I am an international traveler (some because of the U. S. Military) since the age of 16. I am animal nurse by profession, have a horse rescue, a house full of animals including 2 iguanas, 6 cats, 1 elderly dog who seems a perpetual puppy, and is my hiking companion at 13 years of age! I also have 2 chinchillas, a Quaker Parrot, a Mexican Redheaded Parrot, and large double fish tank! I love to hike, compete in the Highland Games, trail running, I have completed 2 marathons in my life (one is Germany and one in San Diego... 4 decades apart!). I haven't played in a while, but I was ranked 10th in the nation as a 10 and under in tennis.. and have played all my life. I like wine, craft beer, and Scotch whisky (not the smokey or peaty stuff though). I am also a tea drinker (hate coffee) and am decaffeinated.. you don't want to see me on caffeine... I'm already WAY to active without! I eat most all foods except eggplant (allergic) and cucumbers in any way, shape, or form. I am quite, but enjoy a good bit of good bit of loud laughter when appropriate. I am happy sitting by a fire in silence, talking about the day, or getting into deep philosophical discussions. I am not religious but if I had to define my beliefs.. Pantheism is pretty close. I believe that all people have a right to be treated as human beings.. with kindness and respect regardless of beliefs.. as long as those beliefs don't negatively impact others. I am an avid Outlander fan... love Piers Anthony Xanth series and the Blue Adept. I like to trout fish (well, I probably like other kinds of fishing, but haven't experienced anything else). I have a decent amateur cheap camera that I LOVE taking photos with and posting to my Facebook page so that others might be inspired to go on their own adventures! I sing VERY well.. play the guitar MARGINALLY well, have done some Shakespeare in the park, TV, and movie work. My life goal is to move to Scotland permanently by Fall of 2020.. and attend the Royal Conservatoire in Glasgow. This summer (2019) I am spending 7 weeks traveling to approx. 11 Highland Games and showing Scotland just how incredible women athletes can be! I am also a retired U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. Warrant Officer (started out enlisted and became an expert in my field, went to more school and became an officer). I retired in 2005 with 20 years of service.. 3 years active duty and the rest as a reservist. I started in human medicine and then went to veterinary medicine.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I want to do 2 things as a Couchsurfer. I was directed to this site by a current member to see if i can get hosted (one, a few, or many) for my trip to Scotland this year... and I would LOVE to host folks from all over the world. A day I don't learn something is a wasted day and the best way to learn is through the experiences and ideologies of other cultures!
Music, Movies, and Books
Oh wow... so much... Movies: The American President, Love Actually, The Holiday, Star Wars & Return of the Jedi, Star Trek (almost all of them), The Highlander (series and most of the movies), Outlander (the Scottish timetravel one), The Bishop's Wife (the old one), Going My Way, The Sound of Music... Music: Currently VERY into Celtic, always into Folk music from all nations.. but grew up with Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Peter, Paul & Mary, Joan Baez... I also like Country music (before the turn of the century 2000's), Classical, Gregorian Chant, Musicals, a bit of reggae... Books: Piers Anthony, Outlander, sheesh.. I have an entire wall of books but can't tell you who wrote them or what the titles are.. LOL Mostly Fantasy and Science fiction .. and romance novels
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Last year I did the inaugural Pacific Redwoods Trail Fest... 5 days (including travel) of incredible trail running through the California redwoods to the tune of 12-22 miles per day for 3 days in a row! But I think the BEST thing I ever did was to pay the dinner bill for 3 young men in a restaurant and not letting the waitress tell them who did it.. and i didn't know the boys.. they were obviously concerned about how much they could spend... the waitress insisted on telling them something.. so I had her give me a piece of paper and wrote.. enjoy, from your Secret Santa.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a degree in teaching actually.. adults! I have taught dog obedience, I train horses... and I can share myself.. I have a lot of love of the world to share! I want to learn EVERYTHING I can .. a day without learning something is a wasted day!
What I Can Share With Hosts
Oh my... well... i love cooking and it is actually one of the things I do to relax.. though you wouldn't know it when I am creating! I would love to share my cooking .. I seriously LOVE a good conversation.. about ANYTHING. I can talk about religion, politics, all the taboo subjects and genuinely listen to your viewpoint.. even if I don't agree!
