Hi, I'm Kim - a 27-year-old Devonshire girl, but currently living in Edinburgh with my partner Jonathan. At the moment I'm working as a Marketing Administrator at the Royal Yacht Britannia, and also writing theatre and book reviews for a blog. In 2017, Jon and I spent seven months travelling around South America, the USA and Cuba - it was, unsurprisingly, the best time ever. It hasn't exactly cured my itchy feet though, and the two of us still have that never-ending list of places to visit! We've had only positive experiences with Couchsurfing so far, having hosted a few times pre-travel, and while away we stayed with a few folk over the other side of the world too. It's a great way to get to know like-minded folk and to learn more about other cultures/languages. I enjoy getting out into the outdoors - going for gentle walks or hiking the odd hill or munro in Scotland. Having studied literature, I love reading and going to the theatre, and I always enjoy movies and going to the cinema. I am a friendly and tidy person and am always respectful of other people's property and privacy. I am polite and would treat other property as I would hope surfers will treat mine. My partner Jonathan and I shall be hosting together in Edinburgh. https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/jonathan-mclean-1 P.S- If you speak Spanish that's a bonus as Jon and I both need the practice.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
To travel in a more immersive and sociable way and to help people do the same in my city.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: All sorts really... Hip Hop, Indie, Alt-Rock, Indie-Folk, Jazz, Blues, etc... And, of course, BTS. Movies: I am a big fan of films from a range of different genres. Particular favourites include - Star Wars, Toy Story, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Dark Knight, Guardians of the Galaxy, Napoleon Dynamite, Lost in Translation... and lots more... Books: I love reading and loved studying literature at university. I very much enjoy reading feminist literature including works by Margaret Atwood, Angela Carter, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker and Jeanette Winterson. Some recent books I've read and enjoyed include: Wild by Cheryl Strayed, I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg, A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. Personal favourites include: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Picture of Dorian Grey, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, The Buddha in the Attic, Beloved, The Color Purple, and Push.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (with Llama Path - if you're thinking of booking, they are excellent) An awesome three-month road trip around the western half of the United States. Trek to the bottom of Grand Canyon (and obviously back out again the next day... I'm not still down there)
What I Can Share With Hosts
I can teach you the correct way to brew a proper pot of tea - in a way that would make George Orwell proud. Having lived in Edinburgh for several years I can offer useful tips for the city, recommend nice cafes and restaurants, and give some options for places to see and go to during your visit.
