❗️⛔️ COUCHSURFING IS NOT A DATING SITE! I do not respond to random messages from men trying to start flirty conversations. Do not send me a friend request if I don’t know you ⛔️❗️ .:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:. Hello! My name is Leslie. I was born and raised in New York City (Queens) and love living there. I spent 4 years of college living in Boston, Massachusetts. I'm eager to meet new people during my travels and would love to show visitors around NYC. Visiting Couchsurfers say I’m a great tour guide. I describe myself as funny, friendly, sassy, caring, and down to earth. Life needs some adventure so I love trying new things when possible. I am a foodie and always down for drinks, karaoke, dancing, or a board game night. I’m obsessed with RuPaul’s Drag Race and watch all the international drag race shows. ***If you are homophobic or racist, we will NOT get along.*** When the weather is nice, I enjoy hanging out at the park, outdoor beer garden, or the beach. I am definitely a city girl but I like escaping from the urban craziness to go camping or do other outdoor activities. Honestly, I have fun doing just about anything as long as I'm with good people! I'm a special education high school teacher (I teach earth science). That means I am busy Monday-Friday and cannot stay up late Sunday-Thursday during the school year (September-June) However, during July and August I have a nice long break from work which allows me to be more social and travel. If you're curious to know more about me, follow me on Instagram (@msljflores).

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing attracts certain types of people who are friendly, open-minded, trusting, cultured, and fun. I enjoy surrounding myself with people like that as often as I can. CS gatherings (especially here in NYC) are always a great time because the people you meet are very welcoming and have great stories. I've made some wonderful friends with both locals and travelers thanks to CS. When I have the time, I enjoy going to the NYC CS events and always try to go to one in each city when I'm traveling to meet fellow travelers and locals. I love showing CSers around because it gives me a good excuse to visit parts of NYC that I may not usually go to as a local. I host when I can. I might be able to meet up and show you around during the weekend if I’m free. I enjoy helping others so if you have any questions about NYC, send me a message and I'll try to assist you. :)
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a little bit of everything but mainly 90s/00s rock, pop, EDM, Latin/Spanish, and indie. Some of my favorite movies include: Garden State, Amelie, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Guardians of the Galaxy, and L'Auberge Espagnole I don't read as much as I used to but some of my favorite books include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Great Gatsby, and the Harry Potter series
One Amazing Thing I've Done
My last year of college (2010) I went on an Alternative Spring Break trip. A group of 9 students and 1 staff member took a road trip in a van from Boston, MA down south to New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA). It took 20+ hours to drive there and we only stopped a few times to eat and use a restroom. While in New Orleans, we volunteered at a local animal shelter for a week. In our free time, we explored the city and took in the culture of NOLA. It was my second visit there and I hope to go again. I miss the food! In Summer 2018, I took my first, long solo trip to Europe. During my 3 weeks of solo traveling, I visited Iceland (Reykjavik), Spain (Barcelona), France (Paris and Versailles), Netherlands (Amsterdam), and the UK (London). I met some wonderful people at the hostels and Couchsurfing events.
Teach, Learn, Share
- learn about the culture of the places I visit and people I meet - practice my Spanish while in a Spanish-speaking country or with whoever speaks Spanish - teach you how to do basic Spanish dances like salsa, cha cha, merengue, and bachata. - share my knowledge of NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, or other places I've traveled to before - encourage you to sing a karaoke song, have another drink, or try exotic/unfamiliar food
What I Can Share With Hosts
- I'm full of stories (mostly funny ones) - Want a buddy to check out that new restaurant or bar? Let's go! - Contact me up if you're in NYC so I can show you around - Happy to share any travel tips about places I’ve lived in or visited
