I'm a 26-year-old student (german literature, gender studies and sociology). I like reading, listening to and making music (I play drums). I'm engaged in emancipatory political work and of course I don't want to host (or be hosted by) racists, nationalists, sexists, homophobes, anti-Semites, etc. But actually I have never met a couchsurfer or a host like that up to now, which is one of the reasons why I like couchsurfing so much. It seems as if this network was a magnet for open-minded, tolerant and generous people.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING In the summer of 2011 I've made my first couchsurfing-experiences in France and it was really great!
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I've been hitchhiking from Flensburg (Germany) to Malmö (Sweden) together with a friend. When we arrived there, it was 9 o'clock in the evening and we didn't have a place to sleep (at this time I didn't know CS yet). We went into an alternative bar in the city centre to drink a limonade and prepare for spending a night under a bridge - when a young man asked us if he could help. We told him about our situation and he immediately made two phone calls. Two minutes later we had a place to sleep and (which is much more important actually) the feeling that there are more unselfish and generous people in the world than one commonly thinks!
