hey my name is Malou. I am a very open minded and loving person I was told :) my friends say they wonder how I always connect with folx so quickly. I guess that's something I love - to laugh together and share, spaces and ideas. I have always hosted lots and lots of friends of friends in my house in my hometown Berlin and Berkeley, California where I used to live for 4 years. Currently, I am creating life and community in Vancouver. I very much care about "intentional" and collective living, sharing responsibilities and to be there for each other in a home and in a community more generally. I study Urban Sociology and the Sociology of Ageing at the Masters level.
Interested in Comedy
Interested in Dancing

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I am on couch surfing because I believe that the capitalist systems makes us put a price tag on everything, we book a hostel, an airbnb (ughhh such a gentrifier tool) or a hotel, lock ourselves away and do not get to know the place and the people we are visiting in the most intimate way through staying with someone who is from there. I am also on couch surfing because I care about cultures meeting and sharing responsibilities in homes. Thus, I am very conscious of how much space I take up, to be respectful and clean after myself and potentially help out in the household more generally if I get the chance to. I love cooking, so to cook a meal for my host is the absolute minimum I would always love to do.
Music, Movies, and Books
my favorite music is probably the soundtrack for the Pina film by Wim Wenders. I am named after a dancer from Pina Bausch Dance Company // that's why this is music is very close to my heart. my favorite movies are probably movies by Xavier Dolan. I also very much love the movie "Tomboy" my favorite books are poetry collections. my favorite ones are Gwen Benaway - Passage, Chrystos work and Robert Hass - Apple Trees at Olema
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I met a Grizzly in Montana in 2014 and had a pretty chill encounter with them (do bears go by they?) -- This experience shaped my perception of things in many fascinating ways - respecting nature, giving and taking space ...
What I Can Share With Hosts
I am always very happy to make meals for folx. I love caring for children if there are any around and take over responsibilities as needed in these terms. I am good at giving massages and am always up to go on evening runs together or hang out together more generally.
