Why I'm on Couchsurfing
For a more authentic connection with individuals from around the world - whether I'm being hosted, meeting people while out and about, or through me hosting someone.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big fan of music, and can appreciate most genres. My favourite genre however is unequivocally jazz, and I’m an avid admirer of jazz guitarists, a few prime examples being Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, John Scofield and Gilad Hekselman. I enjoy films as an artistic medium, and I find I often recall details from films vividly. My filmic fancy is tickled by anything from art house, through English comedy, standup and nature documentaries to American Hollywood movies and occasionally, shamefully, explosion-fuelled B-films. I mostly read philosophy, with some of my favourite authors being Ludwig Wittgenstein, Slavoj Zizek and Plato, for varying reasons. Apart from that I enjoy reading literature, and have, among others, read Kafka, Murakami, Rilke, Herman Hesse, Thomas Bernhard and Oliver Sacks
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Started solo traveling and couchsurfing at the age of 19. The encounters I’ve had with all kinds of unforgettable people constitute the amazing quality of that endeavour.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach with passion. Insist on the complexity, multiplicity and rhizomatic nature of the world, and that it’s mediated and experienced through the human condition. Inspire and influence others. Learn as much as you can, absorb all the knowledge you can, about cultures, places and people. Understanding imparts compassion upon one's mind and actions, and a nuanced, interesting existence necessitates knowledge and reflection. Share yourself with others as much as you dare; impressions, experiences, thoughts, feelings, jokes and facts. The human mind is wonderful and surprising, and genuine interaction between individuals is a multi-faceted and boundless study and exchange.
What I Can Share With Hosts
Good stories, philosophical discussions, a jam session, an altruistic deed, an idiosyncratic scope on life flavored with eccentric facts and a peculiar sense of humour. A home cooked meal, a helping hand around the house, a place to stay in Copenhagen, a lavish gift from the exotic kingdom of Denmark, and your very own chunk of my hippocampus dedicated to the memories of our time together.
