Hi! 🌻 I’m a Dutch Psychology student with a background in Oriental Languages and Communication. 🛋️ If you want me to host you, I’d really appreciate if you read my whole profile and put in the effort to write a more personalised message. I grew up in a multicultural family, which definitely sparked my lifelong curiosity for other cultures. I’ve also lived in Japan for nearly a year and currently speak Japanese at around an N2/N3 level, so if you’re curious about Japanese (or Dutch), I’m more than happy to share what I know! :D Back home in the Netherlands, I work part-time as a coordinator for a buddy program for asylum seekers. I love organizing small events and meeting people from all over the world. It’s been incredibly fulfilling and has definitely deepened my interests in cultures ❤️ I’m looking for a cozy and safe place to stay, and more importantly, the chance to connect with kind, open-minded people. I’m respectful, curious, and always happy to lend a hand or share a story over dinner. Hope to meet you somewhere along the way! ⚠️ I’m not interested in dating/hooking up, so if that’s why you’re using couchsurfing, please don’t message me

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I had some really fun couchsurfing experiences when I was travelling in Japan. I noticed this app made it so much easier to meet new people while I was solo-travelling and it also provided me with the opportunity to find more hidden gems through locals (like local festivals and going to tempels in the middle of the night) I don’t enjoy doing super touristy stuff, so this definitely made it easier to find other cool places! +it’s so much easier to learn a new language when you’re staying over at actually native speaker

What I Can Share With Hosts
🗣️With my four years of studying Japanese and fluency in English and Dutch, I can help improve your language skills! Whether it's practicing conversation or reviewing grammar, I'm more than happy to assist. 📚I’m really into reading, so when I get to know a person, I love recommending them books based on their personality. It happened a few times that I recommended someone a book that ended up being their favorite, so maybe I’ll also be able to do that with you! I’m of course also always very open to receiving recommendations for books. 🧍🏼♀️I’m really tall, so I can help you reach cupboards that would normally be too high for you lol 🫂 I'm not just seeking accommodation but also hoping to form genuine connections and foster meaningful friendships. 🍴I'm always excited to try local delicacies and traditional dishes and to learn new recipes. I’m mostly into cooking Italian or East-Asian food, but I would also love to cook something else for my hosts. (I do have to warn you that I'm not a great cook haha 🥲). I’ve technically been a pescatarian for almost ten years. However, I’ve noticed that in some countries it’s really difficult to not eat meat and as a guest, I want to be able to adapt to my hosts. So, I’ve decided that it’s fine for me to eat a little bit of meat while i’m travelling. 🏔️I’m open to explore parts of Italy with my CS hosts. I don’t enjoy places that are too crowded and through my CS hosts I’ve been able to find so many cool hidden gems 💎. Of course, I'm also completely fine with doing things by myself, so please don't feel pressured to think of things to do! :) 🌏 I have family from all around the globe. (Surinam, Italy, Venezuela, Thailand etc.) Because of this, I’ve been very interested in other cultures ever since I was little. I also have a passion for Japanese culture and have immersed myself in its traditions, customs, and etiquette. I would love to share my own cultural experiences with my CS hosts. 🧡 Above all, I value the importance of being a responsible and considerate guest. I will always try to treat my host's home with care and respect their rules and boundaries. I believe in open communication, maintaining cleanliness, and creating a safe and harmonious living situation.
