I aspire to be some hybrid of Indiana Jones and Bill Nye, but come across as more of a hippie Dwight. I believe respect earns respect, mutual expressions of this form friendships. I'm laid back, just as happy to have an intellectual discussion as explore all the different meaningless syllables I can make with someone. Acting like a buffoon helps drop your guard, but when there's a problem to be fixed I focus like a telephoto lens. So shoot me a message just to chat, or plan, or discuss, or reminisce. I'm always here.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I want to feel a sense of community when traveling, rather than isolation in a hotel room.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
Bob Dylan croaked thru his mic just before his encore, during a show at the University of Minnesota on Election Day 2008, that Barack Obama's election as POTUS had him thinking the times really were 'a changing.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I can cook well, repair things, and am happy to contribute with my labor. I'm calm and good at defusing conflicts, I'm told I smell good. I know some good jokes and can talk intelligently on a wide range of topics. I make friends easily and believe mutual respect must form the basis of any worthwhile interaction.
My Interests
I try to make my body of knowledge as broad and densely interwoven as I can. Thinking about how a concept from something like history is an extension of psychology, neurology, biology, sociology et cetera, I feel really contributes to a robust understanding and helps with recall too. The point of knowing all that is to transcend one's environment and achieve greater degrees of freedom. I'm excited to see where human progress leads in my lifetime and always glad to hear a different point of view. Once the conversation gets so deep we can't do anything but talk in circles the violin and guitar will come out to make music.
