I am a lover of the earth. My passion is the environment and I have studied ecosystem design. I would prefer to be outside every day, I love outdoor sports, specifically hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, biking, and I am keen to learn others, especially surfing! I have always wanted to come to New Zealand every since I was young, and I made my dreams a reality this year. So far I have been traveling the South Island and loving it! I mainly prefer to camp but sometimes it gets lonely being in my tent by myself so I would love to get to know locals through Couchsurfing.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing to meet locals while traveling New Zealand. I love to go tramping and be alone in the mountains, but like I said before sometimes that gets lonely. I want to be able to share my experiences with people and go out on adventures with the people who actually live in this gorgeous place! And I want to tell my story and my perspective on the world too.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy many genres of music, and love going to concerts. My favorite would probably be jam music, I love Lotus, Papadosio, Bis Something, String Cheese, etc. I recently went to Rhythm and Alps Music Festival in Wanaka and am starting to like to more electronic and Drum and Bass music too. I also play the drums and love a good jam session. And can dance to pretty much anything!

One Amazing Thing I've Done

One of my favorite days was back home in the U.S. when I did an alpine climb of over 1,200 feet of vertical rock climbing in Rocky Mountain National Park. I will never forget being up on the mountain so exposed hanging on with the tiniest of holds, and the feeling of accomplishment I felt when I submitted the climb.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about Maori culture and the history of New Zealand. And my biggest goal for this year in terms of outdoor sports is to lean to surf! I want to share my favorite recipes, go exploring the bush, or just hang out inside on a rainy day and read a book.

What I Can Share With Hosts

I can share a lot of my knowledge of rock climbing, and would love to go out on adventures with hosts. You can learn an American hippie’s perspective on the shit show that is American politics (although I’ve had that conversation way too often while abroad). I love to cook so I could always make you dinner, and I am a very clean person so I will help in the cleaning up as well.
