Hi, I am looking for a cheap way to get to castles near Cologne from Cologne in January (bus/car)

My friend and I are going to visit Cologne 31Jan-1Feb. We would like to see castles near Cologne. Could you please advise us a cheap way to get there from Cologne? Maybe someone would like to go with us?

Hi! Trains are usually a decent way to get around. You can look up day and weekend passes, which can save you some money. Another decent option is the blablacar app. It connects passengers with drivers who are going in the same direction as you, and prices are pretty cheap. It also serves as a nice way to make new friends. Otherwise you can also probably try and see if Flixbus is going anywhere near where you want to go.

Hi Daria, there is a small and very beautiful castle near Bonn on a mountain called "Drachenfeld". This is the website to the castle: http://www.schloss-drachenburg.de/index.php/en/ They also offer guided tours and on Sat+Sun there is special ilumination in place, check out the fotos, it looks amazing, saw it at Christmas a year ago. You can get easily there from Cologne Train station. There are trains every 30 minutes (no interchange). Check out bahn.de and type from "Cologne Hauptbahnhof" to "Königswinter". Its 15 minutes walk to the start of the mountain, you can choose taking the fancy but aoverprices cable car or walking uphill.
