33.000 per month before taxes is a good pay, and definitely enough for living in copenhagen.
My estimations is that you will have a bit more than 16.000kr left, after tax.
It can be a big hassle though to find a permanent residence, and you may have to pay "more than a fair price" for the apartment. Although, if you are prepared to pay 10.000-12.000 kr for a whole apartment, then you should be able to find something decent (but small) with a central location. Notice that the prices will change a lot if you are willing live outside of city area, with postal codes higher than 2500. ((city center=1000-2000, city area = 2001-2500, suburban copenhagen = 2501-2900))
Take a look at Boligportal.dk , you have to pay for membership in order to contact users, but this is the website with most users and most options, and most trustworther (there are many scammers on other sites).
I'm pretty good at saving money in cph, so if you want tips on that just send me a pm.
Good luck
I make around 30000 a month and get 20000 paid out every month. But Depends on the tax percentage.
If you earn 33k DKr per month as gross the net is not half of it. it is more like Andy's comment.
Sweet ! Thank you so much ! I'll PM you !!
With that salary you will be making more money than what around half the working danes are making. After taxes i would say you will probably have around 22.000 kr paid out every month.
Thanks for your time Andy !
if this is your sole income for 2 persons it will be a bit tight if you live in CPH. Accommodation will take about half of it unless you have found a very cheap place to live. Those who say it is an over-average income are right but it is normal in Denmark that both partners are working full time, even when there are small children. 2 people living on one salary is unusual. Even though it is a rather high salary you may be entitled to housing aid if this is the only income in your household. The tax system is actually very easy to understand and even easier to manage once you have grasped it. The easiest in all of Europe, I dare say. You declare your expected income in advance and pay tax based on this declaration. After end of tax year, you check everything and either get money back or pay your dues. Almost everything is done automatically. If you only have a salary and a rented accommodation, there's nothing more you have to do, everything gets sorted by SKAT and in over 25 years, I never have experienced any errors by SKAT. It works fast and efficient and everything can be done online. Quite impressive, really. Especially if you are used to bureaucracy from Southern European countries ;-) It only can get complicated when you're involved in financial investments, real estate dealings or international trading. When doing your first income tax registration it would be a good idea to get help from a Dane, just to check if you've done everything right. But as I said, as long as you only are dealing with salary and rented accommodation everything will be done for you by your employer and SKAT and usually you can trust those. As long as you have a CPR number and your civil status is all legal.
It's gonna be great :-)
Thanks Thom & leva !!
Dont forget that there are insurance, union, church taxes too. I would say you'll get 19-20k after tax in a month. And with average room cost around 4-6k a month, you'll still have plenty to spare.
Welcome to CPH.
You are only supposed to pay church tax if you are a member of the Danish Church (Folkekirken). If you are not, then you can demand to get that back.
Thanks both of you !! We will have a look !!
You may have to manually un-check the church tax in your income tax declaration if you don't want to pay it! Years ago, it was checked by default and many people paid it without knowing how they could avoid it.
When you register at the "folkeregister" in Denmark you tell them you're not a member of the Danish church, then you won't get church tax deducted with your income tax
What Andy said
Also ,check out International House. As a dane, I don't know much about it, other than that it is a mainly public fundet place, that help expats in Denmark/Copenhagen with everything for advice on housing, tax system, healthcare and so on :-)

Super !! Thanks a lot Sune ! I've start looking at the 'check-list' and it's very helpfull !! Thanks for your time !!
Yes. 30K+ before tax is more than enough to live in Denmark.
thanks Kasper !!
About the tax system, it's luckily not too difficult to figure out in the long run, and you won't have to do it yourself if your BF is employed at a company. We have two types of income, A-taxed, which is income that has already been drawn taxes off automatically, as your company will inform SKAT (taxes ministry) about that. The other is B-tax, which is the full amount you get out and then you have to report it and pay tax off it yourself.
I'm imagining you are in category A, so I wouldn't be too worried. Good luck! :D
Sweet! Thanks for your time David !!
yes, David, finally somebody who gets it 100% right ;-) without all the mumbojumbo
I will say it's a normal salary. You will be able to live here, but not with too much luxury - rent etc. is expensive.
But for two persons both will need to work.
ok ok! Thanks for your advice Palle !!
Don't worry about finding the tax system difficult to understand. To most native Danes, the tax system is equivalent to black magic.
hahaha ! Thanks jan, it reassures me !! I think with all this help, we now have a better idea !!
That's nonsense. Like in most other countries, tax system bashing is a popular sport, but in Denmark it is not deserved. But who am I trying to take the fun out of it? Keep bashing, but don't believe those who say it is a bad system. It's something else when you are involved in complicated financial dealings and are trying to evade paying tax....
I find the tax system pretty easy, don't be discouraged.
