Van Ness Boulevard in the Fig Garden area becomes Christmas Tree Lane in winter and Saturday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 11, are designated Walk Nights when the lane is closed to car traffic and thousands of people take to the street to view the decorations and visit with friends.

The forecast is for rain during the day, but mostly ending in the afternoon with evening temperatures in the upper 40s F (7-9Celsius).

Let me know if anyone is interested and I can give you soem advice for getting there and finding parking.

You should avoid taking Shaw and Shields Avenues during those nights, as they will be very crowded. Your best option if you can get there early is to park in Fig Garden Village (get there from the north on Palm Avenue), or trying to find some parking along side streets a few blocks from Van Ness Boulevard (though this will be very difficult as thousands will be doing the same.

The hours are 6-11pm.
