Seeking Advice on Budget-Friendly Travel Options in Switzerland
Hello Couchsurfing Community! I hope you're all doing well! I'm Varad, an international student from India currently studying in Munich. My friend Boris and I are planning an exciting trip through Switzerland, starting in Zurich, then heading to Lucerne, and finally Bern before returning to Munich by the 17th. While I’ve found hosts in Zurich and Lucerne, I’m still waiting to hear back from Bern. The major challenge I'm facing is the high cost of travel passes for our journey. I checked the SBB website for day passes, but they are quite expensive, especially last minute. Even with a card subscription, the total cost is nearly the same. Point-to-point tickets also seem costly. I’m reaching out to see if anyone has advice on more budget-friendly options. Would it be cheaper to just pay for major city-to-city tickets and perhaps rent bicycles locally? Or is there a possibility to borrow bikes from the community? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as we’re students and trying to keep costs manageable. Thanks so much for your help! Best, Varad
