Them May be, It is better Not to Go to Grindelwald for skiing. High Season, holidaytime- Not the cheapest Moment, not the cheapest Place. We have a Lot of Snow this Winter. For Exempel you Come to Thun, Visite from Here Grindelwald and Interlaken... and for skiing you as a beginner go to a easier and cheaper Place... I Know some of Them! Grindelwald ist Great for skiing- but Not for your conditions...
Hi Joey
It depends what you call "beginner". Have you ever skied before? If you have skied before and are able to go on lifts and easy slopes on your own, Medinamo ist right: Choose a smaller ski area (Aeschi, Kiental, Diemtigtal, Faltschen, Beatenberg-Hohwald, Beatenberg-Niederhorn, Habkern, Axalp,), they're often quite cheaper than Grindelwald - a day pass there is CHF 65 whereas in smaller areas you can get one for 35-50 francs... However, if you've never skied before, I'd recommend going to Bodmi, it's the beginner area in Grindelwald, where you'll meet kids and tourists ;-) The day pass to use it is CHF 20. If you want to take lessons you can either do so in Grindelwald and go to Bodmi (group lessons, beginner day packages, private lessons) or if you want to learn skiing properly, again, go to a smaller area where lessons are often also cheaper. There's no differene in price for lift passes in on- or off-season, but rental might be cheaper starting from end of February and sleeping also (if you don't do couchsurfing). If you still need an accommodation drop me a message (I live near Interlaken) (y)
