Scenic views and Funiculars

Hi all. I will be in Switzerland between 8 - 13 April. I would like to know which area is the best to get the view of the green mountains down the hills? from the top I mean. I feel from interlaken i wont get such a view. am I right ? so which area should I exactly book my hotel? also where i can get those funicular rides with scenic views? is there any in interlaken ?

Hi Sarah I wouldn't recommend interlaken, it is very crowded of tourists. Adelboden is also nice, but check the hotal availability, the ski- season should be over at april and i think some hotels will have already closed. In Adelboden you have some really nice options to go to the top of the mountains with a funicular ride! https://vogellisiberg.ch/ you also can go to engstligenalp or tschenten. Or check out Grindelwald, there are also some great options to go to the top of the mountains. However, if you want to go for hiking make sure you have winterprof equipment and inform your first by the local tourist agency. On April, there is normally still snow of the top of the mountains. I would prefeer Valais or Graubünden, much moore sunny days, more snow, higher Mountains and less tourist then Interlaken.

Valais/Wallis __> Zermatt, Saas Fee, Grächen, Aletsch (Riederalp, Bettmeralp) Goms Visp or Brig are the Centers ther, you can make daytrips from there ( You' re arriving all the places in 1h)

No from Interlaken you cant have a good view since you will be too low to see the alps.

And you dont need to stay in Interlaken. Most interesting starting point can be reached from any point south of Berne (Bern included) with the public transport (though expensive) within less than 1 1/2hour . For public transport use SBB app (shows also buses and cable cars).

Quite easy access with scenic views and not too expensive:

https://www.niederhorn.ch/ : from Beatenberg with cable car, very nice view, possibilites of nice walks
https://www.jungfrau.ch/de-ch/schynige-platte/: from Interlaken by little train, very nice view, possibilites of nice walks
https://www.niesen.ch/de/niesen-aktuell/?oid=1948&lang=de : from Mülenen, more away from Alps, more difficult for walks.. or "Lobhornhütte" with fantastic view and experience, if you can walk 1.5-2 hours (but in April you first have to check if there is too much snow to walk) and spend a night in a club house of swiss alp club (SAC). First take the cable car from Isenfluh to Sulwald.: www.lobhornhütte.ch
