Safe in what way? Landmines or something else?
In terms of hooligans or thieves or robbers.
I advise you not to go during the night.. been there myself during the day a few times and it was fine, you might see more people touring. don't go in the late hours, I've heard of some stories abt people getting robbed. also it might be wise to take no money or phone (just an idea, prolly not possible) with you, just in case... and also you can always go back, if there's a group that looks shady (2+ people) and you're the only one - rather go back if you care abt the money. just my opinion, not very experienced with it, and also I'd advise you give it a go during the day, there's often many people there, I myself wouldn't be worried abt going if I wanted, but since you asked for an opinion.... gl
I descended from trebevic into the city near the bobsled area the other night about 9pm with noting other than my iPhone flashlight. I saw no pirates, brigands or thieves. It's safer than waking around your average American neighbourhood and infinitely safer than being pulled over in America by the police.
