As you're looking for some chance to practice your language skills and get to know some people, I'd advice you to pay the following three regular events a visit:

English Stammtisch every Wednesday from 7:30 to about 10 P.M. at Espresso Kartell (around Hasselbachplatz)

Deutsch Stammtisch every Thursday from 8 on, also at Espresso Kartell

Sprachcafé every first and third Thursday of a month (e.g. on 4th of April) from 7 P.M. on at Eine-Welt-Haus (Schellingstraße 3)

Hi Maria, do you search a language school or just some contact and exchange with locals? I know that there are some language schools but more or less expensive. Best is to get into the university courses, but its hard to enter. If you want to get to know people you can try IKUS at Campus of university, its like a reunion every Thursday.
