Hola! 4 girls coming to Asturias, looking for advice :-) Gracias!
Hola!
We're 4 friends visiting the Asturias region for 10 days. We would ofcourse like to go to Los Picos and also enjoy the coastside. What cities or little villages are a must-do or must-stay?
We are still deciding whether we stay in one place or to split and stay in 2 places.
All advice is helpful, GRACIAS!!

Hello Veronica and company. About tips: Gijon in Summer is a good choice with a really great night live. Oviedo and Aviles old town are interesting. About other towns, in the coast you have Ribadesella, Cudillero and Lastres could be a good choice. Around the mountains, Covandoga of course, Somiedo, Parque natural de Redes. I hope you enjoy Asturias. PD: If any of you are Vegetarian, bad luck, in Asturias is really dificult found food without meat or fish,
I think that it would be nice if you split your star in two places, one closer to the eastern Asturias and the other closer to the centre or western Asturias. For the first one you would have the Picos very close, but also plenty of very nice places and small villages. All the coast and beaches of Llanes, for example, are worth of a visit. It has become quite famous in the last years the Gulpiyuri beach, because you can´t see the sea. The problem is that, because it is quite small and now very touristic, maybe can get quite crowded sometimes. Llanes itself it is also quite nice, and other nice villages arround are Lastres (a very small village of fishermen) or Villaviciosa, with a "ría" that it is really beautiful. Close to Lastres the is the jurasic museum, about dinosaurs that it is interesting, especially for those interested in the topic. If you go there, take a guided visit, it is much better. And very close there there is a beach where you can see dinosaurs footprints for free!! (la Griega).
In the centre, between the cities, people say that Oviedo is really nice although for me the old village of Aviles, much less known, is nicer. Gijón, as others have told you, it is quite nice in summers for events and nightlife. and you can go to the very centre of Asturias (Cabo Peñas) to see the Asturias' point more in the north.
In the west there are plenty of nice places to see too, like Luarca, Tapia, Taramundi, Puerto Vega, Cudillero, etc etc. And then, a lot of natural places that if you like hiking, are a must. Apart from Picos, you can go to the Redes park (the ruta del agua track is really nice), but also Somiedo, etc.
Enjoy!! :)
Hello¡ I think it depends on the way you're going to move. If you have your own car and you want do hiking by "Picos", perhaps the best option could be stay 4 or 5 nights near Picos for example in "Cangas de Onís" and from there get the east cost of Asturias, where you have to visit Llanes, and as a beach, for me one of the best is Torimbia.
For night live in summer, of course, Gijon, although is too much crowded for me. Anyway, Oviedo, the capital also diserves a visit.
In the west coast, I'd highlight Cudillero (small fisherman village) and the beach of Silence. (Playa del Silencio).
If you don't have your own car, is better that you move between the main locations as Llanes, Cangas de Onís, Gijón, Luarca, to avoid spend a lot of time moving by public means of transport.
I hope I've helped you and enjoy your hollidays in Asturias.
