Adventure tips
Hey there! I'm from Michigan and will be visiting Phoenix from sept 5th-9th. I have never been to Arizona but I love the outdoors and it looks like a great place to go. If anyone has some tips on where to go hike, fish, just see nature, just anything in general on what to do in Phoenix or the surrounding area please let me know. Or if anyone has any cool trips planned and need some company I'll be more than happy to join. Thanks hope to hear from yall soon.

Al,
There is so much to see and do in Arizona, it's hard to just pick one place over the other. I would suggest heading to higher elevations since it's blazing hot in Phoenix. If you like camping and hiking, there look up Coconino National Forest which covers some great areas including the red rock country (Sedona), Oak Creek Canyon, and much more. There is also the Tonto National Forest which has a load of lakes and reservoirs. Further north is Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest which has some amazing views from the Mogollon Rim with elevations ranging from 3500 feet to 11500 feet. If you want, I can probably take you to some of the places as long as you don't mind some camping and my dog tagging along.

Floating down the salt river in an inner tube is always a fun experience! There are lots of people there and the drinks flow as you bring em'
There are 3 lakes close to Phoenix: Lake Pleasant, Saguaro Lake & Canyon Lake. All 3 of them have lake cruises & I think Canyon Lake is the best.
Sedona, Arizona is a must see and is 1 1/2 hours from Phoenix.
Just like any city there is plenty to do. You won't see it all in 4 days but you'll have and you'll figure it out I'm sure.
Hey guys thanks a lot for the suggestions the float sounds fun and I'll make sure I check out Sedona. If anyone is up to hang out and go for a hike or float let me know! Thanks again have a good Labor Day!
Flagstaff is beautiful. Wet Beaver Creek and Fossil Creek are also popular destinations.
Verde Valley Balloon rides are awesome too
If you can take the heat, head over to the Superstitions or just hike up Camelback or Piestewa peaks in town.
Arizona has some great stuff to see!
Here are some ideas:
See Grand Canyon (duh) from a decent lookout . . . hike to Havasupai
in Page, AZ: Kayak at Lake Powell, see Horseshoe Bend, tour Lower Antelope Canyon
near Apache Junction: Hike the Siphon Draw trail in the Superstition wilderness
Phoenix: Hike Camelback and Squaw(Piestewa) Peak
Sedona: hike the West Fork Trail
Payson: Check out a Mogollon Rim lookout, hike the Barbershop Trail (part or the cabin loop system)
Hit me up if you need more detail
if you're going to hike in the area, remember to hike in the early morning or late evening. we get a lot of tourists (and even locals) who die while hiking because they're ill-prepared.
even sedona (ex. wet beaver creek) and payson (ex. fossil creek) area is a little toasty right now if you don't get out early enough.
Page is awesome, but it's a weekend trip. I'd highly suggest Canyon Lake and hiking the Superstitions (Flat Iron trail is awesome). The river float is fun if you have a group to go with. If you have a headlamp, hiking up to Dobson's Point on South Mountain for sunset offers great views of it. Sedona and Flagstaff are good side trips (suggestions above on those are all good)
The food here is awesome as well. Definitely try Carolina's Mexican on Mohave St in Phoenix for authentic Mexican food. Just search Yelp for restaurants of all kinds... You really can't go wrong
If you're a craft beer fan, I highly suggest Historic Brewing in Flagstaff, Fate Brewery in Scottsdale, and AZ Wilderness in Gilbert. And the best cocktails are at Bitter & Twisted in downtown Phoenix. Great live music and good atmosphere at Valley Bar, Crescent Ballroom, (those two often require tickets), and Kasmierz.
