In the center everything is within walking distance. To get from playa to Cancun, tulum etc is very easy by public transport that is cheap. Taxis are also 2-3$ inside the town you just need to take some blocks from the 5th ave and tell the driver you know the real price

download the app called TaxiAmigoPDC. It's exactly like uber but better. It is by the taxi syndicate. You can select pickup and drop-off locations, it shows you the tariff including the service fee and they call you to confirm your request. Very handy and drivers are very professional, with insurance, unlike uber drivers.
