Where can I found a room with fair price?

hi everybody, I am from Austria and planning to come to SD on February to visit an English course and will stay there about 2 months. I am looking for a little room with fair price. I was wondering how much the prices are high at airbnb ( I know now that we are paying in europe really low rent costs :-p) So do you have any idea where can I found a cheap room?
PS: sry for my english, I will learn it during my trip in SD xD

Where in SD are you planning to stay? what´s your budget? I'd also recommend take a look on Craiglist first.

If you'll be attending that school that mentioned that's downtown, I wouldn't recommend living in Tijuana as you commute will be horrendous. I would look in Golden Hill. If that's too pricey, there are other areas you can look, but you have to be careful. Last I looked, there used to be economy rooms for rent downtown with mini-kitchens, but I'm not sure if those are still available.

Just be careful for scams on Craigslist. If it looks too good to be true, it PROBABLY is! Don't sent money via wire/Western Union. Let me know and we can find you a liaison to help secure you a spot before your arrival so that you don't have to put yourself in too much risk.

over 100,000 people commute to SD from Tijuana every day.... some people have more time than money so 35 minutes from the border to downtown is not horrendous to everyone. The border crossing can take a horrendous amount of time if you don't know the crossing times to use to avoid long waits or have the proper credentials to use the faster lines.

I have furnished rooms for rent, not too far from the trolley station, for $240, $260, $280, or $300 per month including utilities.

It all depends on where your school is and whether you will have a car. Downtown San Diego is a good starting point for travelling without a car because of all the bus routes that start and end there. It is also where there are some homeless, but they will only occasionally ask for money and leave you alone otherwise.

Also, soon you could rent a room from the catinyhousrproject.com, up to 10,000 rooms in various areas are on the way. The Harbor view mentioned above is at 550 N Grape in the city near little Italy thus its actually the perfect place to be. It is also a historic building if you like that sort of thing.
