Kadikoy is not close to Cekmekoy. There is a lot traffic on that route. Umraniye or Atasehir would be more central with more opportunities for rent and suitable places to stay close to shopping areas and bazaars.

I live in Çekmeköy. You can stay home rather than room because price of rent is cheap in çekmeköy.

Depends on your preferences and budget, It takes about 30-40 mins to get to Kadıköy from Çekmeköy and It is crowded during rush hours, on the other side it is less crowdedto live . If you will share space with others(flatmate or roommate), It is hard to find it in Cekmeköy, you will be more comfortable in Kadıköy in terms of transport and finding flatmate, check it out online on http://istanbul.craigslist.com.tr/search/hsw

There are good apartments in Cekmekoy,it is one of the new construction regions in istanbul such as Beylikduzu,Esenyurt. But transportation is problem Cekmekoy-Uskudar metro isn t opened yet. if you have enough budget suggest from expensive to cheaper 1-)Kadıkoy 2-)Uskudar 3-) Maltepe Good luck

Hello , Kadikoy to Cekmekoy so easy. You can use public taxi system ( Turkish means dolmus ) and go to Cekmekoy. Its cheap and fast. You can see in kadikoy dock and use it. they re working 06:00 and 02:00
