What is a “Shanghai Greeter”? They are people who live there and offer their time to show you the city where the citizens live. They will teach you how to “walk around” in town, where to shop and where to eat! A “Greeter” will accompany you as if you were a friend and they will show you how to look at this city as locals do.

Our volunteers are not professional tourist guides. They are enthusiastic individuals with unique knowledge of Shanghai who will visit the city with you free of charge, as a friend would do.

Transit visa

Hi, did a quick scan whether this question has already been asked, did not see that, if there is one, please point me to that direction.

Question - with an indian passport can i do transit into shanghai, if my stay is less than 24 hours? from internet forums believe that is done, however, have not been able to get into official website, so wanted to ask questions in this group about their experience.

Do I need an "invitation letter" to get chinese tourist visa?

I bought a ticket to Shanghai (from the US) but found that I need a one of the documents below. Has anyone been to China and do you have experience with this? I do not want to go on a tour and I don't have family there. Letter of Invitation- China (Los Angeles) One of the following documents must now be submitted when applying for a Chinese tourist visa: An Invitation Letter from a Tourist Group or an Invitation Letter for Tourist (China) issued by a Duly Authorized Tourism Unit or; An Invitation Letter from a family member. The letter must be specifically written (sample: Invitation Letter from Relative). You must include a copy of the passport data page and Chinese Residence Permit (if not Chinese citizen) OR copy of Chinese National ID (if Chinese citizen) of your host.

Working in SH 25/10-8/11: Want company

Hi. I'll be visiting Shanghai for the first time 25th Oct, for 2 weeks. I'll be working, but want to make time to meet people, see the city, and try to learn about the City and country. I'm from Norway, i travel a lot, love meeting new people, learn new cultures, LOVE food;)

Anyone who would find the time to show me a bit of the city, preferably old fashion places and not the tourist locations (not too big fan..) would be really appreciated.

I do host people in my home in Norway, but i'm only looking for company for sightseeing, get some food, a drink, and have a nice time.

I'm really looking forward to this trip, my first to China!

ps: Don't speak Chinese, but it's a dream to learn..
