Hi Couchsurfers! Welcome to Chengdu! I am Yang, a Sichuan local who has travelled a lot and finally settled down in my hometown. I used to organize CityWalk events in Shanghai and Kashgar, and I'm very willing to share my knowledge about China. Chengdu is the western hub of China. I believe many of you have traveled from Central Asia or Southeast Asia to this city. Indeed, if you've never been to China, you might only name Beijing, Shanghai, or Hong Kong as Chinese cities. Chengdu is an inland city with much more tradition to feel, keeping authentic Chinese vibe compared to coastal areas. The city is famous for hotpot, spicy food, teahouses, pandas, underground culture... Some people regard Sichuan as the Italy of China, because people here are very laid-back and enthusiastic about food. Others also describe Chengdu as Amsterdam in China, due to its vibrant underground culture and top-ranking LGBTQ friendliness. Let's explore China starting from Chengdu's streets! Rough route: - People's Park (a century-old historical park where we can explore real Chinese public life like tea house, marriage corner, ear cleanning...) – Tianfu Square (Chengdu's Trafalgar Square, the city's heart) – Taikoo Li (a luxury shopping mall built around a temple) - Chunxi Road (Chengdu's Times Square) Time: 13:30 – 16:00 Includes 45minutes of walking (about 3km) Gathering Location: Line 2/17, People's Park Metro Station, Exit B Fee: Free (tipping or a gift is sexy) IG: yangchoumike Wechat: Magura_Y If you wanna join just PM me on CS : )
