I studied Finance at Sciences Po Paris and now working in Startups investment. Startups and companies trying to make this world a better place (Impact on environment and sustainabilty). I worked almost 1 year in Dubai/NY and after that I decided to travel 4 months around the world before starting work again, from the US to the Middle East passing by Europe and the beautiful Africa! It was amazing. I like meeting new people, making new friends in life and also meeting friends who can help me with tips on experiencing the city I am visiting beyond the main touristic stuff, going out and just having fun! I would love to meet locals in every country I visit who wouldn't mind meeting up and showing me around. I can be quiet/considerate/out of your hair or we can all hang out if you like :) Sharing experiences and memories with people around the world is what I love and what defines me as a human. Hi, I'm Chris. I'm a real estate investor, and lifelong Southern California local. My work keeps me busy, but whenever I have the opportunity, I enjoy meeting travelers from around the world and hearing about their adventures. One of the things I enjoy most about Couchsurfing is the conversations. Some of my favorite memories have simply been sitting around after a long day, swapping travel stories, learning about different cultures, and hearing perspectives I'd never experience otherwise. I've been fortunate to host travelers from more than a dozen countries, and it's been amazing watching complete strangers become friends. Many have even welcomed me to visit them if I'm ever in their part of the world. When I'm not working you'll usually find me walking my two German Shepherds, hiking, exploring the coast, or planning my next trip. I also enjoy photography, history, trying new restaurants, and anything that gets me outdoors. I speak English and I'm slowly learning Spanish.

ABOUT ME I'm a friendly, laid back fellow who loves to meet new folks! I have a 30-foot sailboat in a great location in Long Beach, California. If you're not familiar with sailboats, the accommodations are not luxury, but certainly cozy and all of my guests have enjoyed their stay so far! My boat is a 1975 Catalina 30, and she's got a wonderful motor and a good genoa sail for adventures on the water. If I am around to host, I usually end up sailing with guests. A good friend of mine has another boat about 50 meters from mine, which adds to the fun as well when he's around!

CURRENT MISSION To get out and explore. ABOUT ME I love hearing people’s stories, trying new foods, seeing remnants of ancient civilizations, understanding how history has shaped culture and meeting cats from other countries. PHILOSOPHY Live in the moment. Be honest with yourself. Take responsibility for your actions. Try not to hold on to too many things. Be kind. Make good decisions. Be yourself :-)
I have been hosting backpackers since 2008, but I am having difficulty navigating this new interface. Recent couch surfers have posted references and I don't know how to post a reference in return. I am inundated with requests, so I usually give priority to requests from couch surfers in countries where I plan to travel, especially if they can host me. It helps if your profile is original, well written and thorough and you have read my profile. I have been adding to mine since I joined CS so it is quite long. Some of you may choose to blast cut and paste requests but I suggest you instead make requests to hosts who have an active account after you read their profile. My response rate is usually over 95% but it's dropping under the new system until I can figure out how to respond. Couchsurfing is supposed to be a sharing community, so I give preference to couch surfers who have also been hosts, especially if I plan to travel to their country. I have a difficult time connecting with a host unless I have hosted them. Anyone can unlock my Yahoo and Facebook accounts and recover my data their request is accepted. I also give reference to anyone who can or help me with the extra bike I'm building for couch surfers to use. I travel light with a backpack and appreciate backpackers who don't scatter their belongings randomly and keep their luggage closed. I have travel benefits so I fly standby and occasionally take a companion. Kudos to anyone who actually reads my profile but it's not a hard and fast rule. POLITICS and PHILOSOPHY Neo-Marxist Revisionist Marxism for the 21st century, peaceful evolution, not violent revolution; Eco-socialist, secular humanist. I am a devout atheist. I believe in science; the Big Band/Big Crunch, especially now that the James Webb telescope has discovered galaxies beyond our universes older than our baby universe. I suspect there are evolved beings so far beyond humanity that we cannot perceive or comprehend them. Those who sense them peripherally often revere them as deities. I was an Army brat and grew up on various Army bases in Japan, Oregon, Texas, Hawaii and Washington State; traveling is in my blood. I'm a political radical, science fiction fan and futurist thinker. I am waiting for the post human, technological singularity, (if I live long enough)... 🖖 As a teenager I earned my own money. I played in 'The Swingteens', I was a paperboy delivering the Tacoma News Tribune. I mowed lawns, shoveled snow, etc. At home I was required to do chores. My father believed in 'spare the rod, spoil the child'. I was expected to earn my keep. It taught me discipline and responsibility. I am a veteran and served in Vietnam; my various careers are musician, mediator, teacher, parole agent, and flight attendant. The career I loved the most was an international flight attendant. I was also a supervisor and manager for two supplemental (unscheduled) charter airlines. I traveled all over the world transporting passengers to exotic locations, prisoner flights, emergency disaster relief, evacuating refugees from war zones, transporting US troops and United Nations Peacekeepers.
I am on a nationwide book and speaking tour that has taken me to all 50 states. I am very friendly, fun and neat. I am on the road 300 days per year promoting my newest comedy book. It is about 6,000 years of history as told by a guy who missed the first 5,960 something years. To sum up the world: People fought...let's eat.
Med school student. One of my best friends and mentor, who hosts, introduced me to this world. I'm sure some of you know Rickey Daley. Hey easy going guy here. Love meeting new people from all over the world. Love learning languages. I definitely believe learning languages becomes a bridge, unlocking potential to better experience various ways of living, connecting with other curious people, and forging unlikely friendships. I Love traveling. I love diversity and anyone who is looking to explore my area is welcome. I may not be able to hang much besides a meal or two, but there will be a place for those in need.
I'm taking a trip to Tbilisi and Istanbul. Looking for people to meet-up with for sight-seeing, hanging-out, grabbing dinner or drinks... I travel alot but this is my first time using this site...
