I love meeting people, discovering new ideas, cultures and places. After graduating university I took a long trip through South America, starting at the World Cup in Brazil and working our way up to Colombia, documenting the journey and making videos for Breaking Borders. I am an visual artist and aspiring beatnik. I love dense urban cityscapes and the great outdoors. In 2021 I drove my van from San Francisco to Key West with my partner Thais, from Brasil. We were on the road for 5 months and explored many amazing places. After many years of roaming the world solo, I settled down in California in 2022. I now live with my husband and our 2-year-old son in a one-bedroom apartment in Downtown Oakland. Because of that, we can only host women with a strong profile who are genuinely comfortable being around a toddler. I'm endlessly grateful to everyone who has hosted me over the years thanks to them, I've been able to travel and experience places in ways I never dreamed possible. And I've been just as happy hosting surfers at my own place, from all kinds of countries and backgrounds, helping them along their journeys however I could. What do I do for work? I work events and conferences. I'm crazy about: Weddings! I've been lucky enough to get invited to a few during my travels, and they're always a trip highlight. A kid gets an assignment from his teacher: think of something that could change the world, then act on it. He comes up with the idea of paying a favor not back, but forward, repaying good deeds not with payback, but with new good deeds done for three new people. That's what Couchsurfing means to me. Being an active member of this community is my small contribution to a better world, one where we trust each other, and share our space and our time freely. No matter how far you are from home, there's always someone willing to help, to show you around, to teach you something new.
