COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I did my first couchsurfing in Oct 2014 and I can not say enough good things about it. Sitting on the beach at night in the south pacific, music playing in the distance and the sound of water lapping on the sand, chilling my toes, as an array of stars, more than I've ever seen before, glitter before me. Spelunking up and down waterfalls in search of glowworms. Or through seemingly never-ending tunnels. Or trying to read a cave map printed off the internet and getting a bit turned about. Or... ...and then there was that incredible hike in Maui: over wooden planks spanning crevices, hopping across rocks to cross streams, jumping off waterfalls, swimming up canals, slipping across the mud in the bamboo forests.
