When I go travelling, I want to meet new people (either local or traveller). Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people, and I have people I've stayed in touch with who have become good friends through travelling.

I studied a lot of French literature as part of my degree, my favorite book is Les Faux-Monnayeurs by André Gide, but I also love Proust. In the past few years, I've been reading more literature from outside Europe or the U.S., stories or nonfiction that help me better understand colonial / post-colonial issues, and the Black experience.
