I like the idea to exchange and share a part of my time with country locals when visiting other countries rather than being 100% on my own. I think also it is very important to be an actor of change in western society, which has to change to be better but also to survive. Today our way of life can be much about buying things, staying in restrained circles, surfing on internet for hours, "social network"...It is very individualistic and we are also sometimes loosing somehow the sens of life. We need more communication, more sharing, more humanity with true physical contacts, and also everybody wins to lend and barter things, exchange favours, when it is possible, rather than always buying and selling. Couchsurfing is about that.
