Hi Couchsurfers! My name is Dean, I'm an Iowa native that has lived in California for roughly the past 9 years. After college I worked at a tech startup then ditched it to travel for a year and a half covering much of Europe and a little bit of North Africa and South America. When I returned I ran another startup with a close friend of mine for two years before we sold our stakes and each set out on travel adventures. This time I'm traveling around Asia. I'm a laid back guy who is happy with chilling and taking it easy, going out, going hiking, or really any type of adventure. I love seeing how locals and expats live in a community and getting a feel for what real life is like.

Meet people and see the world. I love to meet locals, which often is hard to do. I hate when I go to a country and only meet other travelers. Nothing wrong with travelers, I am one, but I want to experience the country when I'm in it.

Life of Pi, Siddhartha, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Game of Thrones. Music- I'm pretty eclectic. I don't really like artists or bands, but rather songs. I have a ton of different artists on my playlists, but usually just one or two songs by them. Not sure what that says about me. Movies: Top 5 in no order: Good Will Hunting, LOTR Trilogy, Wedding Crashers, The Sting, Saving Ryan's Privates.

Travel, food, sports, leisure activities, beer, hiking, history, tech. Played baseball through University, but it's boring. Much prefer other sports, especially playing them. Dig hiking and pretty much everything outdoors. That and food are definitely my big two.
