I am on Couchsurfing because, when I took my round-the-world trip in 2007, I needed some places to stay. In New Zealand, I surfed in Wellington and Nelson. There, I met some fascinating Kiwis, who took me around to drink and watch rugby. Then, I surfed in Copenhagen. There, my host was kind enough to spare his bed at night while he went to work, and I greeted him each morning as he returned to trade places. Once I returned from my trip, I neither surfed nor hosted for a long while. But, in 2010, I resumed my Couchsurfing participation by hosting surfers. I lived in LA, where I hosted many travelers from all over the world. We went to the beach, to Santa Monica, to Hollywood and Griffith Park, all across the Westside, and to multiple karaoke bars. It was good every time. Now, I live in Mountain View, jewel of the San Francisco Bay Area, with my lovely wife and child.

For film, I like most everything. Gore makes my skill crawl. For music, I like most, but prefer hip-hop and folk. Which is why Flight of the Conchords is a favorite of mine. For literature, I'm not a good reader, but I like books. I enjoy historical fiction that hews close to the truth (e.g., "Roots," "The Source") and journalistic research (e.g., anything by Lawrence Wright).
