To know about local culture, heritage, history and understand expectations of local residents from people visiting their lands. Best way to know about a new place is through the residents themselves. Love to see special and not much-known places through their own personal experiences.

I have traveled solo in Kashmir in India amidst curfew and stone-pelting, lived with locals, trekked to unnamed peak in Gurez valley in farthest north of Kashmir, hitchhiked throughout Gurez Valley Dined with strangers in a jungle in Manipur in India when the tires of our vehicle went flat Bunked at a stranger's place when I was lost while traveling in rural Maharashtra in India and they, now, have become my second home.
