To meet new people, learn about different cultures, listen to interesting stories around the world, and simply traveling in a less casual way. Despite my few references, I have met multiple people from here by posting that I am visiting places. Mainly people reach me out on instagram. I have hanged out in Catania with a italian that showed me and my friend around, hanged out in my home city Riga showing guys from Vienna parties, stayed in Paris and Berlin for multiple days.
