I started couchsurfing because I needed a place to stay in Turku and Stockholm with a friend. At first, the thought of sleeping in the house of someone you don't really know sounded risky, specially because we were two girls. However, we stayed with two great hosts, a girl and a boy, who ended up being super nice. Staying with locals gives you the opportunity to learn beyond the brochure or tourist's guides. It allowed us to know which places were worth visiting and all those insider tips that come in handy when you are visiting for a few days.

I am not really the adventurous type, so I guess that swimming in the Artic Ocean after been in a sauna in Norway was something amazing for me. Also, I backpacked on my own around Europe for one month. :)
