Instagram: jannevse Here's some important aurora information for aurora hunters: Many people are coming to Lapland to see northern lights, if you want to see them my recommendation is then to stay longer than few days, since it is not something that happens every day or every week even. It depends on the sun's activity. Northern lights (aurora borealis) are seen when the magnetosphere in space close to earth is disturbed sufficiently by the solar wind. Charged particles (neutrons and protons) hit the upper atmosphere around north pole due to Earth's magnetic field. To be able to see northern lights sky must be clear. You don't need a northern lights hunting tour to be able to see them. Just the weather must be right in Earth and in space. Chances also grow when you go more north from Rovaniemi. Inari, Ivalo, Saariselkä, Kilpisjärvi for example are better locations.
