I'm pretty new in the CS world, but what I've learnt about it so far is that it is the best way of travelling, knowing new places and meeting great people. You get to see places you never even knew about, and you get in touch with different cultures and with people from all over the world. I can't host people right now because I live with my family but I hope to get the chance to do it when I move.
