I am currently travelling and feel that the most valuable experiences I have had is not with other tourists but with locals. I want to further this by living in cities through more authentic accommodation and couchsurfing has come highly recommended from friends.

I am of the opinion that you can never stop learning and although I read and study a lot, I find the best way is often through your peers. I love to hear about people's different ways of life and have watched my own life change drastically by learning through others, from my attitude and outlook to my eating habits or new hobbies I have discovered. I love sharing experiences with other people but also enjoy my own company and have the confidence to do new things alone.

I love reading books and have recently (reluctantly) purchased a kindle, which is actually perfect for travelling and has now become an essential. I study Classics and so find Ancient Greek and Roman culture - their sculpture and literature in particular - fascinating. I also have a definite interest in food and find great pleasure in eating. Although I am sadly a very under practiced cook I am slowly growing to love the preparation of good food also.
