CURRENT MISSION To travel where no one has traveled before, and a few other places. I prefer you don't make a last minute request for me to host you, but I will if I can. ABOUT ME I am a friendly person and open-minded. I enjoy travel and meeting new people. I am gay, single, and have been widowed twice in two long-term relationships (of 17 years and 7 years respectively). I have one cat. I have hosted two German exchange students from Dresden and a Swiss student. PHILOSOPHY Live and let live. Be friendly and honest and expect others to be friendly and honest in return. I am very liberal/progressive politically. I am not religious. I am open to all people regardless of who they are.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I have been hosted five times via CS and have a standing offer to host visitors in my city. I have hosted one US couple twice and a traveler from Germany, and it was a delightful experience. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I have stayed with non-CS friends in Germany, the Netherlands and in London. I have been hosted and hosted via CouchSurfing.

I am a movie buff. Art house films, independent movies, blockbusters, film noir, Steely Dan, jazz, rock, good novels, games, love history and left-wing politics. Sometimes reading Proust.

I can't just tell you ONE thing. I saw the Beatles perform live in Atlanta in 1965. (Yes, I know how old I am.) I also went to concerts of Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Styx, Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey, Melissa Etheridge, U2, Hootie and the Blowfish, Billy Joel, Elton John, Percy Sledge, Blue Man Group, Simon and Garfunkel, and Dionne Warwick. I attended talks by Tennessee Williams, Douglas Adams, and Michael Crichton. I took a hot-air balloon trip near the Tetons mountains in Idaho/Wyoming and two more over the Smokey Mountains near Asheville, NC. I've been to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and St. Peters in Vatican City. I have been in the crown (now closed to the public) of the Statue of Liberty. I met Jimmy Carter and his wife in person before he was President.

I am a retired technical writer and can teach skills and share experiences. I love movies and TV, and love to do so with others. I love board games such as Scrabble. My favorite places to visit are near beaches.
