Hi! I'm a South African of the environmentalist persuasion, looking to make a difference in the world through my work as an environmental lawyer. I currently live in Johannesburg, South Africa, and I work as an advocate (barrister) at the Johannesburg Bar. I studied sustainability science in Sweden though, did my Master's research in the DRC, and spent some time in Scotland as a visiting scholar. I want to understand the world and make it better - and I think travelling is an important part of that mission!

I love to travel and I think Couchsurfing is a great way to actually get to know an area - by getting to know the people who live there.

I went to the DRC completely on my own, to conduct a study on the social and environmental impacts of a hydro-electric dam there. And I did it all in French! I had learnt some French at school, but immersing yourself in a language really is the best way to learn it.

I often cook my hosts a traditional South African "bunny chow", sometimes a traditional malva pudding. I also think there is so much to be learnt from each other. I love to share my thoughts and experiences as a South African, and to hear those of my hosts.

I'm interested in politics, the environment, sustainability, animal rights, human rights, philosophy and law - which is why I do what I do, I suppose! In terms of hobbies though, I love reading, writing, cycling, cooking, hiking and scuba diving. And I love travelling (duh...).
