Hi there! My name is Vanessa, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I am currently studying Psychology at university and am on exchange in the Netherlands! I've never been to Europe before, but so far it has been good times filled with fries, gelato, and bread (three of my absolute favorite things!), so the Netherlands is just a dreamland to me. Basically, my dream is coming true and I cannot believe that this is happening and I would like to stay in your space if you don't mind! :)

I've literally had people's lives in my hand as a belayer for an Alpine Tower (think of a 50-feet-tall, freestanding rock climbing wall in the shape of an X -- or Google it!) for a week at a summer camp for middle school- and high school-aged students. I had to closely monitor the climber's moves and communicate effectively with them to ensure their safety. I was always providing words of encouragement to the climber, but I knew how it felt to be in the climber's position and it's scary climbing the tower. Just climbing up a few feet was already an accomplishment, so when the climber would safely make it to the top and they'd give me a smile from 50-feet up high, it was such a rewarding feeling.

I'm real into eating, walking around new cities, hearing people's stories, and taking photos. I'm also a big fan of laughing and making people laugh, but I'm not really sure if I'm good at it (both the former and the latter).
