A hamarosan megrendezésre kerülő nemzetközi Nemnövekedés Konferenciára több száz résztvevő érkezik.

A hivatalos konferenciával párhuzamosan, augusztus 30.

The upcoming international degrowth conference will gather hundreds of people who aim to make this world better: some of them do it through their research, others through their local initiatives and alternatives in which they try to find new ways of exchanging, producing, consuming or taking decisions. Between 30 August and 3 September, besides the academic conference, the Degrowth Week festival will bring discussions, public panels, artistic performances and exhibitions, practical workshops and conviviality events into public space to introduce degrowth in Budapest and to open a space for dialogue about more sustainable and desirable futures.

Following the degrowth philosophy, we want to offer the possibility to the participants from all over the world to meet and connect with locals of Budapest. You can take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about this movement, about the ideas and solutions being discussed by offering to host a conference participant in Budapest. 2. Kristin Langen

    Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, Germany

    Dear Degrowth- people !
We are three students from Lüneburg in northern Germany and we are looking forward to attend the upcoming conference in Budapest! Beside the conference we are curious about the city and locals from budapest, thats why we would be glad to find a nice place to stay at. We plan to be in the city from the 30.8. - 5.9.
Please give us a note, if you have a place to offer or if you know somebody who would like to host us. In case you would like to have any further information about us: what we study, whats our favourite ice cream, etc. please feel welcome to contact us.

    See you there!
    Kai, Henri and Krissi

  3. Bruno Herzog

    Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

    Hey everyone!
I'm coming from Brazil to the Conference and even though I've registered at the conference page asking for accomodation (and got no reply) I'm trying here, to see if I can find myself in a win-win situation of being hosted by someone willing to share some local and cultural stuff and also adding to the conference experience! I'll be arriving around the 27th and I'll be leaving around the 4th. I hope I hear/read from you guys :D

  4. Christopher Boyce

    Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

Hello, I'm not sure how this group is working but I am seeing quite a few posts going up to see if people have room. So I'll post where I'm at and my story and see if anyone wants to connect with what I have to offer. I'm coming to the degrowth conference to give a talk on money and happiness and interested in connecting with local folk while I'm there. I'll have a tent with me so I'm happy with someone's garden if it comes to it. I'm travelling from Scotland (part hitchhiking, part train) and should arrive on the 29th. I'll stay until at least the end of the conference and then I'm making a slow journey home. I'm hoping to blog quite a bit about my adventures (my journey, the people I meet, and my reflections on the conference) so you can be a part of the adventure if you want. I cook, I share, I laugh, I cry...
    Christopher

  5. Markus Richter

    Aue, Saxony, Germany

    Hello everybody,

Its my first time trying couchsurfing and I'm very curious if this will work!

I'm planning to stay in Budapest from the 29./30.08. to the 05.09. and would be very happy if I could find a couch to crash on and some people (locals and others) that are also attending the degrowth-conference and/or week! I will not bring a tent with me but I could bring a sleeping bag...

Alternatively, any suggestions for good hostels (potentially those where other participants of the degrowth might be lodging too)?

I guess couchsurfing should now be connected to my facebook account, so feel free to contact me if you like ;)

    Markus

  6. Romance Porrot

    Rennes, Brittany, France

    Hi guys,

I am a member of the Degrowth Conference team and would just like to let you know that we are currently working on accomodation issues.

Some people have filled out forms on our website to be voluntary hosts, but the major problem is that there are fewer hosts than there are applicants asking for accomodation.

As soon as the voluntary hosts get back to us to confirm they can host people as well as how many people they could host, we'll start to connect people by matching voluntary hosts & couchsurfers. We will do so following the chronological order of the list we have of people who applied for accomodation.

If you are among the last ones who applied or if we can't provide accomodation to everyone, we'll do our best to find an alternative solution: either by lauching a second call for voluntary hosts on our website & social network pages, or by re-directing people towards other types of accomodation. We are aware that many of you travel on a very low budget so we'll do our best to make sure everyone can have a safe and affordable stay :)

We'll let you know about any update/news from the potential hosts and will get back in touch asap. In the meantime please feel free to look for other couchsurfers on this website, there must be a lot of them who have available space during the time of the Conference.

    Cheers :)

    Hello lovely Degrowth-Movement in Budapest,
I am a german activist and journalist going to the conference and still searching for a couch.
I will travel with my boyfriend, he is a nice guy, too! We could stay in a hostel, but we've never been to Budapest and we would like to get a feeling for the city and its inhabitants... Please dont feel pressured to host us all the days, we are happy about any night that you can host us! Both of us couchsurfed a lot and we appreciate this special way of traveling!
Im looking forward to hear from you!
