La ciudad del Ayacucho, se fundó el 25 de abril de 1540 bajo el nombre de “San Juan de la Frontera de Huamanga”, y fue llamada como Huamanga hasta el 15 de febrero de 1825. Asimismo, el departamento de Ayacucho está ubicado en el centro sur del país, en la región andina. (INEI 2017).
