AVE ROMA (A Roman Crash)

You gotta be crazy to organise a 4-day event in a city with as many regular visitors as Rome, especially during the 2025 Jubilee! Well, a bunch of us crazy Romans decided to do exactly that, because we figured it was about time the Eternal City had its own CouchCrash, and the rest is (or perhaps soon will become) history. So friends.. Romans… CouchSurfers, here’s what our itinerary looks like so far.. 1️⃣ (Thu 9/10) We finally managed to secure a great venue for the 'early birds' to the Crash - 'Taste'accio', a grotto beneath the Monte dei Cocci, in the heart of Rome's Testaccio quarter (Via di Monte Testaccio 91/93). If you wish to join us, we'll meet directly at the venue around 19:30 for a meal and a drink (or two ,)) and the price per head is 15 EUROS which includes a drink, and a smorgasbord of local cheeses and cured meats. It's our understanding that there's also a vegetarian option. 2️⃣ (Fri 10/10) We’ll meet around 11:00 in front of the 'Fontana della Barcaccia' (near the Spanish Steps in Piazza Spagna), and embark on a DAY TOUR of Rome, which will include several must-see spots like the 'Trevi Fountain', the 'Pantheon' and 'Piazza Navona', finishing up in 'Largo Argentina' where we'll enjoy a nice slice of pizza, a coffee, or a gelato together. Around 19:30 we’ll catch up with other local CouchSurfers at Rome’s regular CS Weekly Event in ‘Angeli Rock’ (Via Ostiense 193C). NB: If you wish to join this event, you are kindly asked to register HERE: https://www.couchsurfing.com/events/cs-weekly-meeting-in-rome-international-funday-rome-2025-10-10 3️⃣ (Sat 11/10) As part of our EAT & DRINK LIKE A ROMAN tour, we'll meet around midday at 'La Fontana Delle Anfore' (near Metro Station Piramide), to sample a bevy of traditional Italian dishes at the 'Testaccio Market’, where you’ll find something to suit every palate as well as wallet size. Following lunch we'll explore the authentically Roman Testaccio quarter until the early afternoon. Around 19:30 we'll meet again outside the metro of ‘The Colosseum’ to start our NIGHT TOUR where we’ll visit several illuminated Roman relics in the 'Fori Imperiali’, as well as the ’Gianicolo' and 'Circo Massimo'. Around 21:30 we'll regroup at 'Ponte Sisto' and venture out to Trastevere, one of Rome's most popular night districts. 4️⃣ (Sun 12/10) Around midday we'll meet at the 'Terrazza del Pincio', (at the top of the Spanish Steps), for a FAREWELL PICNIC where you'll enjoy spectacular sunset vistas of Rome and say your goodbyes to many of the surfers you got to meet during the Crash. If you prefer to use your last day in Rome differently, we suggest you visit the Vatican City or Rome's ever-popular Porta Portese Market in Trastevere. Bare in mind that you'll still be able to catch up with the rest of us later in the park, or perhaps for last drinks somewhere in town in the evening.
