BALTIC-NORDIC WEEKEND Friday, June the 10th – Sunday, June the 12th in Tampere, a local initiative to bring together sauna enthusiasts and experts from Estonia, Latvia and Finland, in the framework of the National Sauna Day celebrations. Sauna culture exchange and friendship events now expanding to Finland, soon also to Iceland and hopefully Denmark. This Baltic-Nordic friendship event now in one of the most celebrated Finnish cities, with breathtaking lakes and extraordinary saunas. ACCOMMODATION: - Through CouchSurfing, like in Riga in March and Tartu in April (for information, contact the organiser) FRIDAY THE 10TH - Smoke sauna event in the evening in a smoke sauna complex next to a grand Finnish lake bay (Rajalahti) with sauna procedures a 45-minute drive away from Tampere performed by Latvian and Estonian experts. - 19:00: Speech from Pentti Tuohimaa, former chairman of the Finnish smoke sauna association. - Transportation: carpools from Tampere with local hosts. TREATMENT TYPES: Estonian technique: Jan Seepter, senior sauna master from Estonia and sauna lecturer at the Viljandi Culture Academy from the prestigious Tartu University, nearly 30 years of practical experience. Special ancient birch and juniper whisk (vihta/soft branches) procedure with progressive stimulation of muscle and nerve groups and contrasts of hot and cold, with an endorphin release which creates a unique "sauna high", comparable to the experience in a bungee jump. Latvian techniques: sauna master with several years of experience, Darta Romanova, from the Lielzemenes sauna school. She offers: A- a special sauna scrub (kuorinta) massage with sea salt, pea flour, clay, berry powder, grape seed oil, essential oil and dried flowers B- a special whisk procedure with verbena, oak, linden, maple, blackberry, birch and more.
