About
Anyone fancies having a hike to the oldest Cistercian abbey in Germany? Founded in 1136, on a site where the Taunus woods blend with the Rheingau vineyards, Kloster Eberbach became famous thanks to the "Name of the Rose" movie.
Plan then is to reach the abbey by taking the part hiking, part sightseeing route from Eltville, as described at https://www.ich-geh-wandern.de/eltviller-klosterweg-rheingau
The circular route takes about 3,5 hours, is rated as easy and includes several castles and views over the Rhein.
