About

Forget about Cologne, Venice and Rio: when it comes to Carnival Time, there's no place like Bellinzona! This year our favourite Carnival will feature chariots about Donald Trump, the winter olympics in Italy, a scandal involving a head of state jet, the death of FM radio and much more!! Let's then have an 18th expedition to Bellinzona, capital town of Italian speaking Switzerland, where the music and chaos of more than 50 Carnival chariots collide with the majesty and elegance of the fortified town. As usual, the idea is to have a warm-up hike in the morning, before attending the parade in the afternoon and finishing the day with dinner at the Cat Cellar. The hike will likely be somewhere between Lugano and Bellinzona (we'll post the exact route closer to the date, once we know what the weather is like) You may read more about the Carnival program at: http://www.rabadan.ch/ Good news: once again, the Carnival ticket entitles us to free train transportation across Canton Ticino (i.e. Italian-speaking Switzerland). This means that, if you're coming from Milan, you'll just need to purchase a Milan-Chiasso ticket (which is around 12 euro for the round trip) and the Carnival ticket, which can be bought for around 10 euros (hint: if you want to save 10 cents, don't say you're Italian!)
