Lieve aficionados, music lovers, singer-songwriters.. Welcome back to MARA MOJA.. the first only-music OPEN MIC in Antwerp! You're more than welcome to join us at our new home: Kavka Oudaan! Come enjoy a new different experience and share your music and talent with a special audience! 🙂 For every edition there are going to be 3 special acts booked and chosen by our fine ears to share with you their personal lyrics and music. Booked acts: ➤ ELLIS MANE “Ellis Mane” has been the musical alter ego of Elisa De Pauw since the beginning of 2022. During the past past 10 years, she has been writing songs and playing the guitar and the piano for several bands, but now she stands behind the microphone herself. Ellis Mane is a one (wo)man band with electric guitar, bass, drumpad and loopstation. Layered songs with character, and some edgy guitar riffs every now and then. Influences can be heard of Courtney Barnett, Eels and Black Box Revelation. https://vi.be/platform/ellismane ➤ JIM CAIN Jim Cain is a singer-songwriter from Ghent, Belgium. Endlessly fascinated by his heroes such as Dylan, Springsteen, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne he started writing songs about love and hate, smoke and mirrors, past and present ... luckily without taking himself too seriously. With his guitar and warm voice he brings together musical styles balancing between old sixties folk, blues, soul, country and that little touch of rock. Inspired by his many heroes, but even more by his own stories to tell. A night of story and song and a connection with the audience: it's why we sing. https://vi.be/platform/jimcain ➤ JESSICA BOUHEZ As a teenager, Jessica started writing music at the piano, inspired by Taylor Swift, Halsey and Daughter. She took the first step in her music career as a participant on the Voice of Flanders. This year she released her first single “Like You” wherein she explores pop music as a bittersweet party. Her unique vocal sound brought this dance pop track as an earworm as we know it from bigger artists like NEIKED, Ava Max or Mabel. In February, Jessica was in the spotlight as NRJ Next artist, but also VRT Radio 2, some local and even international radio stations brought her debut single “Like You” in airplay. Jessica’s second single will be released on the 24th of March and her EP is scheduled for the end of this year! https://vi.be/platform/JessicaBouhez --- In between/after these 3 acts, the podium is open for everyone! Come and sign up! We want to try to give space to as many people as possible, so please keep in mind that 1) the first 8 people to sign up can play up to 2 songs, for a maximum of 8 minutes in total 2) people signing up after can play just 1 song (max 4 minutes) 3) we can offer a maximum of 12 open mic'ers slots Be aware of that and please respect the space of everyone :) For those signing up for the open mic: re-interpretations of others’ songs (let’s not use the term ‘covers’!) is accepted, but we highly encourage you to share your own material!
