Road To Velas Turtle Festival

( event open for pune and Mumbai )Summers are here and it brings along one of nature's best kept secret - the birth of the Olive Ridley turtle in a quaint konkan village of Velas (200kms) . It is one of the most beautiful emotional experiences to sight the newly born hatchlings making their way to the Arabian sea. If time permits we may also covering the nearby major attractions like Bankot fort, Harihareshwar temple known for the pradakshina route. the entire village turns into a homestay during this period and villagers offer bed and bedding and food at a basic cost . pls note this is not a commercial event and all participants will be paying individually for travel , stay, food and all other personal expenses. i have visited here 5 years ago and it's a experience not to be missed . * the reason the event is tentative is we may or may not witness the turtle hatching as it's purely natural and not controlled by the villagers. they only have tentative dates of hatching "
