# Winter Hiking and Carnival Parade #

Sunday 12 February: “WINTER HIKING CARNIVALESQUE WITH CARNIVAL PARADE” Meeting up for the hike at 10.30 inside Maastricht railway station, at the Hema, where we can enjoy a cup of tea! Wear good shoes, the right clothes and of course a ** crazy hat (head) ** to keep your head (hat) warm! Head hat! At 11.12 we take the train to Valkenburg, where the hike of 10 kilometers starts! That means that you can also join us at 11.25 at the station in Valkenburg. We will walk in a forest, through a village and over fields - to the village Groot Genhout. In Groot Genhout we will enjoy the Carnival parade, which goes out one week before Carnival. It is known for big groups of young people from the region. We then can stay for a while to enjoy the Carnival celebration on the street and later on indoors... until we go home, either by bus to Valkenburg and then by train to Maastricht, or 4 km on foot to railway station Beek-Elsloo and then by train. We will be back half past 7 or half past 8, but earlier or later is possible (although the buses may not ride for a while during and shortly after the Carnival parade).
