About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Igor.
My story is interesting and boring at the same time. My journey began in a poor family in a poor village in Ukraine. Thanks to free education, I got my Computer Scientist degree in Odessa, where I spent 6 years for that purpose and fell in love with the city. After graduating from college, I got a job while continuing to study at the University.
During my university years, I was offered a job at a foreign company, and I thought it was an excellent opportunity to practice my English. Later, that company invited me to work from Cambodia, and I agreed. It was my first foreign country; as you can guess, it was a lot of contrast.
After coming back to Ukraine, the pandemic kicked in, and I spent ~8 months in isolation. It was driving me crazy, but it turned out to be the most significant personal growth. A little bit later, I moved to downtown Odessa, where I had a chance to hang out with my friends. One of the happiest times in my life.
Unfortunately, Russia started accumulating soldiers next to the border. 50k was scary, but 70k was enough to plan my travel to Turkey.
2 months after I arrived in Turkey, the war started, so I had to stay in Turkey for a little longer, got my documents ready and moved to Canada. In the first year, your Computer Scientist worked as a porter in one of the hotels, before finding a software engineering job. I have worked using my education and IT experience for the last two years. At the beginning of 2025, I moved to Toronto, met a girl and let myself relax. And now I am back to Couchsurfing.

So... From a poor village in Ukraine to downtown Toronto. Without fulling or robbing anyone. My path isn't the easiest, but I'm proud that I remain kind after all.

I am not very good at telling stories, but I am a fantastic listener. Starting from news, scientific facts and rumours and finishing with deep pain. Parents? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Kids? Tell me all about it 🤩
